EnerMotion Inc. Management Team
Jack MacDonnell, CEO and President Jack founded EnerMotion in 2007 and serves as the company's CEO and President. He is a highly experienced Business Development executive and previously President of MACSTON Performance Productions Inc., a sales and marketing firm specializing in automotive/lifestyle markets that amassed more than 220 clients including General Motors, Toyota Racing Development, Honda USA/Canada, General Electric, eBay Motors, Electronic Arts, Sears Craftsman, Nissan Motorsports, Playboy Industries, BFGoodrich and many many more. Jack was also the creator, Executive Producer, and co-host of the popular TUNER TRANSFORMATION television series on FOX Network’s SPEED Channel for 3 years. His education includes honors in Industrial Design and recently Project Management at the University of Toronto. He worked for the Urban Transit Development Corporation (UTDC/Lavalin/Bombardier) in the 80’s on conceptual Linear Induction Motor (LIM) applications and into the 90’s producing Information Systems for corporations like IBM, Nortel, Dowty-Messier Aerospace, and Allied Signal Aerospace. This led to a sales and business development Director role with Alcatel Canada in the telecommunications industry for 4 years before launching MACSTON 8 years ago. Jack brings a wealth of business operations experience, customer support focus and revenue visibility to EnerMotion and its strategic partners and investors.
Professor Steve Lapp, VP Special Projects
Steve was walking the hybrid and alternative energy walk more than 20 years ago. He trained as a mechanical engineer and has a Masters of Science degree from Queens University in solar thermal energy. He has worked for more than 20 years on vehicle design and energy system design. He worked at the Urban Transit Development Corporation in the '80's designing electric light rail transit vehicles and systems before transitioning to the development of hybrid fuel cell vehicles in the early 1990’s. Steve is a Professor in the Energy Systems Technology Program at St. Lawrence College (the Program he founded). He works with EnerMotion on key projects providing exceptional engineering and industry knowledge. Steve’s daily ride is in the company's first generation Range Extended electric production-based hybrid incorporating many of his original design elements. He’s one of those visionary guys who actually thinks and acts practically, functionally and creatively while stretching the engineering envelope consistently. Previous to developing the Energy Technology program for St. Lawrence, he was President of Lapp Renewables for 7 years, a sustainable energy solution provider that installed hundreds of solar and wind turbine applications for consumers and industry all over the world.
Dave Gibbs, Director Research & Development
Dave coordinates EnerMotion’s R&D activities along with the design and fabrication team building on his experience as a mechanical designer and research & development coordinator for an automotive testing laboratory. He has single handedly developed a revolutionary refrigerant compressor holding international patents. His education includes Mechanical Engineering – Automotive Product Design graduating with honors. He is also a Tool & Die graduate. His design and fabrication skills are exceptional, he has the unique ability to visualize designs and modifications and then execute their build for custom one-of requirements or mass produced applications. He works with EnerMotion’s clients to bring their dreams and visions to reality.
SVP of Engineering & Support
Our contract Senior Vice President of Engineering is responsible for Engineering and the company's Professional Services portfolio. As Vice President of Solutions Engineering for more than 14 years with one of the largest engineering company’s in Canada including account responsibility of $1.4 Billion from Fortune 100 Clients, he is a key management asset. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Windsor. His undergraduate thesis "FIELDS - Finite Element Design Software" received the coveted IEEE award for central Canada. Early in his career; he was part of a highly skilled team of engineers working for Ontario Hydro tasked with developing power control analysis software for a global marketplace. He studied for his Masters of Engineering degree at the University of Toronto, focused on power engineering. His exceptional level of professionalism and business experience offer EnerMotion clients in-depth business value from a customer centric services model.
Dr. John Stannard, Chief Technology Officer
Dr. John Stannard brings a wealth of advanced technology experience and an extensive Rolodex to EnerMotion's Business Development initiatives. Dr. Stannard was Chairman of the Board and President of Fuel Cell Technologies Corporation, which was a public company trading on the TSX Venture exchange from May 2000 until January 2006 that designed, developed and manufactured solid oxide fuel cells for stationary combined heat and power applications. Dr Stannard was responsible for securing three successful rounds of venture financing raising an aggregate of $20 million, which was used for commercialization of the company’s product portfolio. Dr. Stannard holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, is a Professional Engineer in Ontario, and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. John also worked at the Urban Transit Development Corporation leading the engineering team. He has 33 years of experience in the design, development, and testing of a variety of advanced technology systems. These include stationary solid oxide fuel cells, aluminum semi-fuel cell power sources for undersea vehicles, batteries for hybrid electric vehicles, innovative driverless people movers, a hydrogen powered passenger bus, automated driverless trains, climatic test facilities, and wind tunnels. He guides EnerMotion's technology efforts while working with their clients and key industry partners advising them on alternative energy and sustainable forms of transportation.
