Electrical Engineer (Contract) 
EnerMotion’s Research & Development facility in Bolton Ontario Canada requires a contract Electrical Engineer to work with our electrical engineering team for work on a specific pilot project in the heavy truck segment. This role of the contract Electrical Engineer is focused on power control systems; power electronics, vehicle CANBUS design/interface, vehicle drive systems and other alternative transportation and sustainable energy technologies.

 

The candidate MUST possess a valid degree from an accredited university in the field of electrical/electronic engineering. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience and be familiar with various international regulatory approvals such as UL, CSA, CE, etc. Experience with embedded software languages (i.e. C., PLC, HMI) and CANBUS is an asset along with 'Simulink' development.

 

Responsibilities

You will work with the product development team and support the systems integration group in designing advanced hybrid vehicle control systems, power electronics, and digital and analog electrical systems. You will be responsible for product specification/documentation, system design schematics, BOM content, layout design requirements, testing and validation, prototype manufacturing support and Simulink development.

 

Preferred Experience

Product development experience in automotive engineering and/or hybrid power control systems is highly desirable. Some project related experience in sustainable energy or alternative fuel applications and past product development to military specifications (US Mil-specs, and CDN DoD) would be considered ideal.

 

Skillset

A strong background in circuit design involving microprocessors, servo amps, digital I/O, high-voltage DC power distribution, and AC/DC inverters/motors

Strong practical trouble shooting experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators and other electronic test tools

You are able to prepare detailed design schematics

You are skilled in schematic capture and simulation analysis

You have experience in CCA layout design and associated design tools

You  have experience with military and IPC standards for CCA design

Allegro, Mentor PADS, OrCAD Capture and OrCAD PCB familiarity, PLD firmware design experience, video interface design experience, digital filters and control systems expertise, man-machine interface design experience

You are able to hold a Canadian Security Clearance and have a valid (or be able to quickly obtain) Canadian Passport (some travel may be required to customer sites for installation, commissioning, training and servicing of components).

Experience with MS Office, AutoCAD, and other development programs (e.g. Labview, MATLAB)
